Job Description:

• Analyzing medical images: Radiologists are responsible for interpreting medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, , ultrasounds, and nuclear medicine scans, to diagnose and monitor a wide range of conditions. They use their expertise to identify abnormalities or changes in the images and make a diagnosis based on their findings.
• Consultation with other physicians: Radiologists work closely with other physicians,. They provide consultative services to other physicians.
• Supervising medical imaging procedures: Radiologists may supervise and direct medical imaging technologists or radiologic technologists during medical imaging procedures to ensure that the imaging is done correctly and safely. They may also recommend specific imaging procedures and techniques for specific diagnoses.
• Maintaining patient records: Radiologists are responsible for maintaining detailed records of each patient's medical imaging studies, including the results and interpretation of each study.
• Participating in research and teaching: Radiologists may also participate in research projects to advance the field of medical imaging and develop new imaging techniques. They may also teach medical students and residents about medical imaging and its applications in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries.
• Ensuring safety: Radiologists play a critical role in ensuring the safety of patients undergoing medical imaging procedures. They are responsible for minimizing radiation exposure and ensuring that imaging procedures are done safely and accurately.
• Get images and interpret hem using Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans (MRIs) and Computer Tomography (CT) scans.
• Discuss results with family members if appropriate
• Follow protocol for resuscitation, bleeding, infection, or other emergency situations
• Instruct patients about how images are taken
• Discuss different options with patients
• Evaluating patients medical histories to ensure the various medical imaging procedures will not harm them.
• Suggesting alternative medical imaging techniques, when necessary.
• Informing patients about the medical imaging process.
• Using devices such as computer tomography (CT) scanners and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines.
• Performing or directing radiology staff to carry out image-guided, diagnostic procedures.
• Working with radiology lab technicians to perfect image quality.
• Interpreting the results from diagnostic imaging procedures to determine diagnoses.
• Communicating and discussing results and diagnoses with physicians.
• Compiling written reports of results and diagnoses.
• Following medical protocols for resuscitation, bleeding, infection, or other emergency situations, when necessary.
• Evaluate patient pain levels to determine whether they require physician intervention
• Process X-rays in a timely manner to assist physicians with the diagnostic process
• Answer questions from the patient and their families to ensure they understand the procedure
• Provide patients with instructions on properly preparing for imaging in advance of the procedure
• Set up radiology equipment and ensure that it is working properly for accurate scans
• Follow HIPAA regulations at all times when handling patient images
• Knowledge about NABH, NABL
