Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Review and analyze medical documentation to accurately assign appropriate medical codes, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

2. Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements.

3. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related queries.

4. Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.

5. Maintain productivity and quality standards in coding assignments.

6. Conduct regular audits to identify coding errors and implement corrective actions.

7. Assist in the development and implementation of coding training programs for staff.

8. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling patient information.

9. Collaborate with the billing team to ensure accurate and timely submission of coded claims.

10. Participate in coding-related meetings and educational sessions to enhance coding knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

1. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or equivalent.

2. Strong knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.

3. Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

4. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

5. Attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Ability to work independently and meet productivity targets.

8. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members.

9. Familiarity with insurance billing processes and reimbursement methodologies.

10. Compliance with ethical standards and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
